Instructions:

  1. Make the Patties:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands to combine, being careful not to overwork the meat.
    • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties, slightly larger than your buns, as they will shrink during cooking. Press a small indent in the center of each patty with your thumb (this helps them cook evenly).
  2. Caramelize the Onions:
    • Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.
    • Once the onions are caramelized, add the balsamic vinegar and brown sugar. Stir to combine and cook for another 5-7 minutes, until the vinegar is reduced and the onions are sticky and rich. Remove from heat and set aside.
