Since the dance contest started in 2004, 294 couples have competed for the Glitterball Trophy and only 18 of those have been directly affected by the ‘Strictly Curse.’

Granted, the ‘Strictly Curse’ does generally take all of the major headlines and talking points, but it has been proven to be more myth than reality.

A Whopping 81.25% Of Relationships Formed On Strictly Come Dancing Last A Year Or More

Strictly Come Dancing relationships that have evolved on the popular dance contest have proven to be a success.

Of the 16 relationships formed on the award-winning BBC1 show, 13 of them have lasted at least a year or more.

That equates to a staggering 81.25%. Furthermore, 10 of the relationships have gone on to last two years or more. This translates to 62.5%.

It Takes Two To Tango

Granted, not all of the relationships formed on Strictly Come Dancing last. However, there are those who have Tangoed all the way to the altar.

Flavia Cacace – who had also dated fellow contestant Matt Di Angelo – tied the knot with Jimi Mistry in 2013.

The other Strictly nuptials came in 2019, when the Countdown on Rachel Riley and Pasha Kovalev’s relationship blossomed into marriage.

Investigative journalist Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton have been rumoured to marry in the future along with Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez. The ‘Strictly Curse’ certainly works in mysterious ways.

Commentary

Neil Roarty, Content Lead at Coinpoker, commented on the ‘Strictly Curse’, saying: “It’s very surprising to read that the ‘Strictly Curse’ hasn’t actually affected that many couples since the show began 20 years ago.

“It goes without saying that those who are dumped and/or cheated on owing to the show will take all the headlines. However, the chances of falling victim are extremely low.

“As the celebrity contestants are being confirmed for this year’s extravaganza, it’ll be intriguing to see if any more names are added to the list.”
