Changing Stakes & Poker Formats
In the Heads Up Cash Game World Championship, players can agree on some changes.
- Stakes: The series minimum is $50/$100, but players can opt for higher stakes.
- Poker Formats: In Pot Limit Omaha matches, competitors can opt for PLO5 or PLO6.
Changes have to be fully agreed on by both competitors and do not carry over into future matches.
Group Stage, Semi-Finals & Grand Final
The Heads Up Cash Game World Championship is broken into three stages.
Group Stage – April 6 to 19
A two-week battle. Players will face every opponent for 1,250 to 1,875 hands, depending on group sizes.
The strongest player(s) from each group will advance to the Semi-Finals.
The Group Stage will use a point system to determine winners.
- Match Wins: Players are awarded 50 points per match win.
- EV BB Score: Players can win or lose between 0 and 150 points from each match.
10 EV BB equals 1 point, rounded to the nearest whole number.
Players can win a maximum of 200 points from a single match: 150 points from EV BB (15 buy-ins) plus 50 points for the win.
Check the Terms and Conditions to learn more about Group Stage points.
Semi-Finals – April 20 to 26
The player with the highest total points from the Group Stage earns the right to select their opponent for their Semi-Finals match.
Each Semi-Finals match will last 2,000 hands, after which, two players move on to the Grand Final.
Grand Final – April 27 to May 3
A legendary 2,000-hand showdown crowns the 2026 Heads Up Cash Game World Champions. Prizes and glory follow for both players.
We’re streaming the entire journey on YouTube. To watch the world’s best cash game players, that’s where you need to be.

Heads Up CGWC Terms & Conditions
The CoinPoker Heads Up Cash Game World Championship (also referred to as the Heads Up CGWC) is a cash game series composed of a series of one-versus-one matches.
This event takes place from April 6th to May 3rd, and will have concurrently running events (one for Texas Hold’em and one for Pot Limit Omaha), both with their own event stages (Group Stage, Semi-Finals, and Grand Final).
Policies for the Heads Up CGWC, each event stage, participation, and scheduling are outlined below.
1. Gameplay
- Competitors in the Heads Up Cash Game World Championship can choose to enter the Texas Hold’em (NLH) competitor pool, the Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) competitor pool, or both.
- Minimum stakes for the Heads Up CGWC are $50/$100 ($10,000 buy-in), with a mandatory auto-reload to 100BB active during matches.
- Players are expected to play a minimum of 2 tables simultaneously, but if both parties agree, 1-tabling is allowed.
- Each match will have a specified number of hands that players must complete.
- Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) matches will have a forced default format of 4-Card Pot Limit Omaha. However, two players may choose to switch between 4-Card Pot Limit Omaha and 5-Card Pot Limit Omaha (PLO5) or 6-Card Pot Limit Omaha (PLO6) at their table by mutual agreement.
- All matches will have a forced default of $50/$100 blinds. However, two players may agree to raise or lower the stakes at any time, with $50/$100 as the minimum default stakes.
- Limping is forbidden in this Heads Up Cash Game World Championship (CGWC) event. Unintentionally limped hands will be discounted from EV BB results and the total number of hands. Intentional or repeated violations may result in disqualification.
2. The Group Stage
- The Group Stage of the Heads Up Cash Game World Championship will run from April 6th to 19th.
- Groups during the Group Stage will be decided by RNG. At the same time, an avatar must be chosen from the pool of available avatars that CoinPoker supplies.
- Depending on the number of competitors, players will compete against every other player for a total of 1,250 to 1,875 hands in each match. The exact number will be disclosed before the Group Stage begins.
- Depending on the number of entrants, a different number of players will proceed to the Semi-Finals:
– If there are 8 entrants to the Group Stage, there will be 2 groups of 4, where 2 players per group will advance to the Semi-Finals.
– If there are 12 entrants to the Group Stage, there will be 4 groups of 3, where 1 player per group will advance to the Semi-Finals.
– If there are 16 entrants to the Group Stage, there will be 4 groups of 4, where 1 player per group will advance to the Semi-Finals. - To identify winners in the Group Stage, CoinPoker will use a points system outlined in the next section.
2.1. The Group Stage Points System
- Winning a match in the Group Stage awards 50 points to the winner.
- Players can win or lose between 0 and 150 points per match based on their EV BB score.
- 10 EV BB is equal to 1 point in the Group Stage.
- The maximum that a player can win during a single match in the Group Stage is 200 points (50 points for winning the match, plus 150 points from the EV BB score).
- If two players leading their group are tied at the same number of points, a death match begins. The first to profit 100BB or more (not in EV) breaks the tie and wins.
- If a player forfeits a match, everybody in the group will receive 50 points as if they won their match against said player; his opponent in the match will also receive the full amount of points proportional to the EV BBs won, while the other players will get half of that amount.
3. The Semi-Finals
- The Semi-Finals stage will take place from April 20th to 26th, after the Group Stage.
- The player with the highest number of total points at the conclusion of the Group Stage will have the ability to select their opponent for their Semi-Finals match.
- Semi-Finals matches will last 2,000 hands.
- Two players will move from the Semi-Finals to the Grand Final.
- Depending on the number of competitors in the Heads Up Cash Game World Championship, a 1,000-hand match to determine the 3rd and 4th place winners will be scheduled.
4. The Grand Final
- The Grand Final stage will take place from April 27th to May 3rd, after the Semi-Finals.
- Grand Final matches require 2,000 hands to be played.
5. Participation
- A limited number of player slots are available in the Heads Up CGWC. Applicants will be admitted to the event at CoinPoker’s sole discretion.
- Depending on the total number of players participating in the event, a match to determine the third and fourth place winners may take place.
- In addition to the $10,000 buy-in, each player will place $10,000 in escrow as a participation guarantee. In case of an early exit from the event, the $10,000 guarantee will be forfeit and distributed to the players in the group of the forfeiter at a ratio based on the number of hands remaining to be played.
- Players are expected to cooperate with CoinPoker’s marketing team by answering occasional questions about their matches/hands, and the event winner will be required to participate in an interview via text, audio and/or video.
- Before the Group Stage commences, players must choose an avatar that has not yet been picked by another player.
- The avatars, once chosen, must not be changed for the duration of the Heads Up CGWC event.
6. Scheduling
- Players will be expected to schedule their Heads Up CGWC matches privately. A CoinPoker employee will act as mediator in these conversations.
- If no time can be agreed upon, CoinPoker will schedule the Heads Up CGWC match, taking into account both players’ availability on a best-effort basis.
- Failure by either player to play the match at the scheduled time will constitute forfeit.
- Forfeit of a match can affect points during the Group Stage and also the player’s participation guarantee, outlined in the Participation section.
7. General
- Participation in this promotion implies full acceptance and understanding of these Terms & Conditions.
- This promotion is subject to CoinPoker’s General Terms & Conditions.
- A high standard of sportsmanship and play ethics will be expected from all participants in the Heads Up CGWC. CoinPoker will be monitoring all matches for violations of the spirit of these terms or the CoinPoker Terms of Service.
