David Seaman: Ramsdale Risks Career Stagnation Staying At Arsenal

In an exclusive interview with CoinPoker, Arsenal legend David Seaman advises Aaron Ramsdale on his future and reveals why he believes David Raya can get even better this season.

Seaman also comments on the Gunners’ need to sign a striker with a physical presence and also backup for Bukayo Saka this summer.

Ramsdale Risks Career Stagnation If He Doesn’t Leave Arsenal

Aaron Ramsdale was relegated to the bench once Arsenal signed David Raya from Brentford and David Seaman thinks it’s time the England stopper got back to playing week-in-week-out even if it means leaving the Emirates;

David Seaman: “It’s tough because if he stays then he might not get a lot of game time like last season. But then if he goes somewhere on loan or whether he signs for somebody then it’s going to be better for his England career but then it’s going to be worse for Arsenal. He needs to be playing. You can’t train all season and not play. I couldn’t have done that. I was lucky. When I went to Peterborough as a 19-year-old, I was a number one and then I was a number one all the way through my career. So it’s hard for me to try to understand what he’s going through but it must be tough.”

Arteta Told To Sign ‘Physical Striker’ Alongside Saka Backup

Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Ivan Toney, Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen and Seaman would like to see Mikel Arteta go out and sign a front man who can be physically dominant;

David Seaman: “Everybody’s looking at the striker position. We need backup for Bukayo (Saka) as well because we saw at the end of last season when Martinelli went over onto the right, they’re not the same because they like to cut in. Going out on the wide on the right and wide on the left doesn’t quite work as well as what it can do. Everybody’s thinking we need a goal scorer, we need a different option. I think we need more of a physical option.”

David Raya Has Proven He Can Handle Big Pressure At Gunners

Raya shone after a brief sticky start at Arsenal and Seaman has tipped the Spaniard to go from strength to strength this season;

David Seaman: “I’m sure he [Raya] can [get better]. He came in under pressure because Aaron was the fans’ favourite. I had that to deal with in my career. I took over from John Lukic and everybody was saying Lukic is better than Seaman. But David’s proven himself and people don’t realise how much experience he has of playing English football. He’s been here a long time, he was at Brentford for a while and now he’s at Arsenal which is a different level altogether. In his first season he did really well.“
