Week after week,\u00a0we\u2019ll\u00a0go over the history of the game, basic rules, and recommendations, anecdotes from the players, more advanced strategies, hand analysis, and etc.\u00a0Stay tuned and enjoy the Fantasy-ride!<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/coinpoker.com\/the-importance-of-optimal-openings\/\">explained earlier<\/a>, we are now covering a crucial subject in OFC: your openings.\u00a0The\u00a0way you will choose to place your initial 5 cards will be the foundation of your hand and it represents\u00a0a\u00a0key\u00a0decision. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember that one of the ultimate goals in Chinese Poker is to reach Fantasyland, so starting with the most effective placement will greatly help you get there!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are studying&nbsp;optimum&nbsp;openings in order of the highest starting hands by ranking,&nbsp;and we already covered&nbsp;the top&nbsp;poker hands:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/coinpoker.com\/royal-and-straight-flush-openings\/\">Royal Flushes\u00a0<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/coinpoker.com\/royal-and-straight-flush-openings-pt2\/\">Straight Flushes\u00a0<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/coinpoker.com\/opening-with-quads\/\">Quads\u00a0<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/coinpoker.com\/opening-with-a-full-house-part-6\/\">Full Houses<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/coinpoker.com\/opening-with-flushes-part-6\/\">Flushes\u00a0<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/coinpoker.com\/opening-with-straights-part-6\/\">Straights\u00a0<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/coinpoker.com\/opening-with-three-of-a-kind\/\">Three of a kind\u00a0<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/coinpoker.com\/opening-with-two-pairs-part-2\/\">Two pairs\u00a0<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We are now studying&nbsp;the next category by ranking order of hands:<strong>&nbsp;Opening with&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>One pair.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/coinpoker.com\/opening-with-one-pair-part-1\/\">we saw last week<\/a>, when you receive one pair in the opening along with 3 random cards (that are not 3 cards flush), the rule is clear and simple\u00a0with very few exceptions:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Any pair from 22 to KK will go in the back,\u00a0and AA will go in the middle<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can relate to last week blog post to read more on the exceptions that&nbsp;will&nbsp;occur when you&nbsp;get dealt another fantasy card on top of a big pair, such as KK with a single Queen, or QQ along with an Ace and a King.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week, we will focus on the placement of the 3 remaining cards along with your dealt pair.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A single fantasy card will always go on top, in which case\u00a0the 2 remaining cards would go in the middle.\u00a0<br><\/li><li>As for 3 small cards, you will want to slightly vary your plays between getting higher chances of making a full-full in the back and in the middle, versus making higher pairs or bonuses such as flushes in the middle, depending on how connected your cards are.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember that if you start with a hand such as KK8 in the back and you complete the hand, 70% of these premium hands will end of as Quads or Kings full, while 30% will end up as Eights full.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are a few examples to illustrate this and to give you an idea of the optimal openings with one pair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>K-K-10-7-6<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A great play would be K-K-10 bottom with 7-6 middle to give you a shot at full-full&nbsp;or at making a straight in the middle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>K-K-J-10-9<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The best play here would be K-K-J bottom with 10-9 middle for the same reason as above. Remember that it is never\u00a0optimal to play 3 cards straights in the back in the first position.\u00a0<br><br>Therefore, if you were first to act and tempted to play J-10-9 bottom along with your KK in the middle or on top,\u00a0you should know that\u00a0it would not be the correct play in the long run.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>K-K-9-8-3<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The optimal play here would be to place K-K-3 in the back along with 9-8 in the middle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will allow you to have connecting cards in the middle that can develop into a straight\u00a0or it can allow you to make big pairs in the middle such as 2 pairs 9 high, which will very often beat your opponents\u2019 middle line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u00a0usually\u00a0seems more intuitive to place the highest cards in the back, such as K-K-9 in the back\u00a0along\u00a0with 8-3 in the middle, but it would not be the best play as your 8-3 are not connecting cards\u00a0in any way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, it does not open any real possibility in the middle for you, aside from the rare full house in the back \/ full house in the middle case.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The situation would be completely different with the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>K<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>K<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>9<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>8 of diamond<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>&#8211;<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>3 of diamond<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since you have 2 suited cards here, the other variables, such as straight possibilities or higher cards, would not come\u00a0as an important factor\u00a0here. <br><br>The best starting placement would be K-K-9 in the back along with your 8-3 of diamonds in the middle.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Be aware of the reasons why you make every&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>single&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>decision in OFC.<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;That\u2019s how you will become a winning player<\/strong><strong>!<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>And remember that accessing Fantasyland stays a number 1 goal in this game and you may find yourself with crazy hands such as this one:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">When you need to break your quads in order to cumulate more royalties in OFC, you know you are in for a marvellous ride in Fantasyland \ud83d\ude02\ud83d\udcaa\ud83d\ude0d<br><br>Join me on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CoinPoker_OFF?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CoinPoker_OFF<\/a> for exciting Pineapple cash games sessions! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pfKP45ya4E\">pic.twitter.com\/pfKP45ya4E<\/a><\/p>&mdash; \ufffcIsabelle Mercier \u26a1\ufe0f\ufffc\ufffc\ud83d\ude80 (@IsabelleNoMercy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IsabelleNoMercy\/status\/1358496096738238465?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 7, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Rendezvous&nbsp;in the next blog posts&nbsp;for the continuation of these series of tips on Open Face Chinese Poker.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Meet me at the OFC tables on CoinPoker to practice your skills and enjoy the action.
